The history of Kano began when Bagauda, a grandson of the legendary Bayajidda, established the first dynasty. He united the early settlers around Dala Hill, laying the political and social foundation for what would become the Hausa Kingdom.
Kano was formally created as a distinct state within the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This pivotal moment birthed the modern administrative structure that now oversees the 44 Local Government Areas and drives the state's rapid urban development.
