The Ministry serves as the central authority dedicated to the supervision and guidance of the 44 Local Government Areas and the Emirate Council across Kano State. It ensures that policies are effectively translated into action at the grassroots level for the benefit of all communities.

Our mission extends to fostering sustainable development through rigorous financial oversight, strategic planning support, and the preservation of our rich cultural heritage by working closely with traditional institutions.

The Era of Rumfa

Muhammad Rumfa ascended the throne, ushering in a golden age of reform. His reign witnessed the expansion of the city walls, the construction of the Gidan Rumfa palace, and the establishment of the Kurmi Market as a regional trade hub.

Founding of the Kingdom

The history of Kano began when Bagauda, a grandson of the legendary Bayajidda, established the first dynasty. He united the early settlers around Dala Hill, laying the political and social foundation for what would become the Hausa Kingdom.

Creation of Kano State

Kano was formally created as a distinct state within the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This pivotal moment birthed the modern administrative structure that now oversees the 44 Local Government Areas and drives the state's rapid urban development.

Establishment of the Emirate

Following the Jihad of Usman dan Fodio, the Hausa dynasty was succeeded by the Fulani Emirate. This era solidified Kano’s status as a center of Islamic scholarship and administration under the Sokoto Caliphate, expanding its influence significantly.
