This Local Government (Doguwa) was created out of the present Tudun Wada Local Government in October 1991. It lays at the Southern Western part of the state and its Headquarter is at Riruwai about 210 kilometers from Kano. According to 2006 national population census, it has 151,181 populations predominately Hausa/Fulani. Kurama Yoruba, Ibos and other minority tribes residing within the Local Government ‘Area. Doguwa occupied an area of 627 square kilometers bordering with T/Wada and Sumaila Local Government from the north, Ningi Local Government, Bauchi State From the east and Kubau Local Governments Kaduna state from the south and west respectively. A vast area of the Local Government is occupied by very thick forest. The people of the area are predominantly farmers and animal herders. As it has very fertile land. Doguwa Local Government was also blessed with mineral resources. Some of the populations are engaged in mining and other commercial activities as well.
Doguwa Local Government in fact is the food basket of Kano State as large quantities of rice, maize, G/corn, soya beans, beans and other farm products are produce.
Doguwa has the highest rainfall in the state annually. Also some of the people of the area are hunter’s craftsmen, blacksmith and traders.
The people of the area are peace loving, obedient, self-reliant as well as industrious, religiously Muslims are in the majority.
The Local Government is endowed with plenty of solid minerals resources which can be found in different parts of the Local Government. These mineral resources include Tin, Xinc, Copper, lead, Uranium, aluminum, Columbine, Tantalite, Gold, Iron-ore, Marbles etc.
The Main tourist attraction in Doguwa Local Government is the Falgore game reserve, a protected ecosystem in the northern Guinea savanna that is home to a variety of wildlife. Other attractions include the area’s scenic natural beauty, rich cultural tradition, distictive local cuisine, and Riruwai Hills.
Doguwa Local Government Area is approximately 10.73’ N latitude and 8.75’ E longitude. This can also be expressed in a range, such as a latitude between approximately 10’43’97’’ and 10’45’01’’ North and a longitude between approximately 8’43’3’’ and 8’47’39’’ East.
