Salary and Wages

The Salary and Wages Department is tasked with the critical financial responsibility of managing the payroll for the 44 Local Government Areas. It is mandated to ensure that the salaries of all public officers under the Local Government Authorities are paid accurately and on time.

Beyond processing payments, the department serves as the chief advisor to the Ministry on all matters affecting remuneration. It interprets salary guidelines and ensures that the state remains in compliance with relevant financial regulations regarding public service compensation.

Payroll Administration

The department manages the dynamic nature of the workforce payroll through Deletion, Insertion, and Re-instatement. It processes the removal of retired or deceased staff, adds newly recruited employees, and reinstates those whose issues have been resolved, ensuring the payroll database is always current.

It plays a vital role in Policy Compliance. The department ensures strict adherence to the salary guidelines and particulars for public officers, preventing unauthorized changes to salary structures and ensuring equity across the service.

Additionally, the department provides Strategic Recommendations. It analyzes trends and issues relating to salary administration across the 44 LGAs and makes appropriate recommendations to the Ministry to improve the efficiency and security of the payment system.

The supervising authority for the 44 Local Government Areas and the Emirate Council, ensuring effective administration and grassroots development across the state.
