The Validation Department acts as the internal control unit for the state’s local government payroll system. It is responsible for validating and authenticating all salary updates before they are implemented, serving as a checkpoint to prevent errors and fraud in the disbursement of funds.
Its primary goal is to ensure the integrity of the financial data across the 44 Local Government Areas. By verifying inputs from the Salary and Wages department, it ensures that every Naira spent on personnel costs is accounted for and justified.
The core function of this department is Authentication. Before any salary variation—whether it is an increment, a new hire, or a promotion—is reflected in the final payment, the Validation Department scrutinizes the records to confirm their legitimacy.
This department is essential for Accurate Implementation. It ensures that the directives regarding salary adjustments are executed exactly as approved, preventing discrepancies between the approved budget and the actual expenditure.
The scope of its operation covers the entire 44 Local Government Areas. This centralized validation process ensures a standardized approach to payroll management, reducing the risk of “ghost workers” and ensuring that financial resources are preserved for genuine staff.
